New hyperfixation: Spires series by Alexis Hall
I am full of thoughts about the Spires series by Alexis Hall. I started reading Glitterland after it was mentioned in Alexis Hall's newsletter - I didn't even realise it was the first of a series. Ash and Darian hooked me so fast! I chain-read that book four or five times, and then moved on to Waiting for the Flood, For Real and Pansies.
I love these books and the fact they're being reissued by Sourcebooks is wonderful - they coming with additional stories and annotations by AJH.
I'm curious how much of the Englishness of Pansies will be lost in the reissue. Glitterland shows that they do keep the dialect but Pansies had lots of other Englishisms (or perhaps I was just in love with seeing 'lasagne' spelled with an 'e' :o)
